Origin:

古文“云”，字形像漂浮在空中的云朵，上有云层，下有缭绕的云团。“云”字由于后来借为“说”义，为了区别，在“云”上加了“雨”，表示本义云彩，简体字又恢复为“云”。

The ancient character of “云” resembled cloud in the air with cloud layer above and cloud cluster below. Later,“云” was expressed by the meaning of “say”, so the character of “雨”, which was used to distinguish the meanings, was added on the upper part of “云”to express the original meaning “cloud”. Now “云” is still used to be a simplified character.

过眼云烟 (guò yǎn yúnyān)：as transient as a fleeting cloud

云消雾散 (yún xiāo wù sàn)：the clouds melt and the mists disperse. i.e. vanish in the air

云雾        (yúnwù)：cloud and mist

白云        (báiyún)：white cloud

   Shānfēng lǒngzhào zài yúnwù zhīzhōng

   The peak is enveloped in clouds.

3. 天空中没有一丝云彩。

   Tiānkōng zhōng méiyǒu yì sī yúncǎi

   The sky is clear and blue.
