Basic Structure:
Just put 反正 in the sentence after a comma or pause, similar to how we use “anyways” in English.
Situation to be disregarded, 反正…
Meaning:
Using 反正 (fǎnzhèng) can be a bit addictive as it is seemingly possible to throw in everywhere. It means “anyhow”, or “regardless”, and is used to disregard a previous statement, particularly those involving options or choices.
Examples:
1. 不管 你 信 不 信 这个 结果,反正 我 信 了。
bùɡuǎn nǐ xìn bú xìn zhèɡe jiéɡuǒ,fǎnzhènɡ wǒ xìn le。
Even if you don’t believe this result, I believe it anyway.
2. 说 不 说 都 一样,反正 没有 人 会 听 咱们 老百姓 的 意见。
shuō bú shuō dōu yíyànɡ,fǎnzhènɡ méiyǒu rén huì tīnɡ zánmen lǎobǎixìnɡ de yìjiàn。
Speaking or not is all the same. Besides, no one is going to listen to what we common folk have to say.
3. 你 想 去 哪儿 就 去 哪儿 吧, 反正 我 无所谓。
nǐ xiǎnɡ qù nǎér jiù qù nǎér bɑ, fǎnzhènɡ wǒ wúsuǒwèi
Go wherever you want. I don’t really care anyway.
