芥蒂 (jièdì) hard feelings, unpleasantness
Usage:
“芥蒂”指细小的梗塞物,后来指对人或对事有怨恨或不愉快的情绪。
“芥蒂” referred to a small blockage; later, it came to mean the feeling of resentment or unpleasantness towards as person or thing.
Examples:
1. 他们的误会太深,很难一下子解开彼此的芥蒂。
Tāmen de wùhuì tàishēn, hěnnán yīxiàizi jiěkāi bǐcǐ de jièdì.
Their misunderstanding is so deep; it may be hard to clear up the unpleasantness between them immediately.
2. 你不能因为心有芥蒂就停止工作。
Nǐ bùnéng yīnwèi xīnyǒujièdì jiù tíngzhǐ gōngzuò
You cannot stop working because of unpleasant feelings.
