 To our friends who are about to embark on a journey to China and those who are already there, here is a warm welcome and sincere salute from a nation wiht 5,000 years of civilization and 1.2 billion people, a nation in the process of reform and opening to the rest of the world, and a nation which beckons to you with its magnificent landscape, splendid culture, richly variegated folkore, and a land pockmarked with numerous cultural artifacts, sites of storied and fabled associations, and new holiday destinations.

You are welcome to take some time out of your busy schedule for a stroll along the legendary Great Wall, and that may give some idea about the vastness of the Chinese land and the profound historical implications behind it. You are welcome to visit the world’s “eighth wonder” —-Qinshihuang’s mighty army of terracotta warriors that have lain underground for more than two millennia.

You are welcome to travel along the Silk Road for a close look at China’s rich cultural heritage and varied folklore.

You are welcome to go aboard a pleasure ship and sail into the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, or go boating in the midst of Guilin’s picturesque landscape. We hope you will have plenty of time to see such Chinese cities as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Xi’an. And we are sure that our country’s abundant
tourist resources, sophisticated tourist facilities and first-rate service, will leave you with a deep impression.
