 As the embodiment of the time-honored human spirit, the guqin became a compulsory music instrument for literati as early as The Spring and Autumn Period (770 B.C.- 476.B.C.) The spirit of “A poor man develops his own moral worth, while a rich man blesses everyone” is at the core of the guqin. 

 

The guqin is regarded as the leader of the eight traditional Chinese musical instruments. For thousands of years, guqin have been illuminating the core of traditional Chinese culture with its unique artistic charm, philosophic origins and cultural richness. The guqin is an important part of traditional Chinese classical music.
