China’s calligraphic and painting works wouldn’t exist without the writing brush. In ancient China, writing brushes have many varieties: brushes of rabbit hair, wool, horse hair, deer hair, feather, man’s beard hair and grass. There are hard hair, soft hair and half-hard and half-soft hair brushes. In terms of use, writing brushes consist of brushes for painting mountains and water, flowers, leaf veins, portraits, fabric textures, color adjustment and color arrangements.
